How to be an Overcomer - Part 2

It is the will of King Jesus to make His wife (the Church) an overcomer like He is in this world!

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
(1Jn 5:4-5 ESV)

And no longer am I in the world, yet these are in the world; and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, those whom You gave to Me, that they may be one as We are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name; I guarded those whom You gave to Me, and not one of them was lost, except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. And now I come to You, and I speak these things in the world, that they may have My joy being fulfilled in them. I have given them Your Word, and the world hated them because they are not of the world, as I am not of the world. I do not pray that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in Your Truth; Your Word is Truth.
(Joh 17:11-17 LITV)

For this is God's will, your sanctification, for you to abstain from fornication, each one of you to know to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, even as also the nations do, not knowing God;
(1Th 4:3-5 LITV)

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
(2Pe 1:4 KJV)

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
(1Jn 2:16-17 KJV)

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
(Gal 5:16-21 KJV)

"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage, I have overcome the world."
(Joh 16:33 MRC)

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(1Th 5:23 KJV)

How to be an Overcomer - Part 1

So, the war that Christians, or Royal Soldiers, are supposed to be fighting in is a spiritual one and the major battle is over the control of our body, soul, and spirit. If we do not take immediate action, we will lose this battle over our being.

Many people have been taken as prisoners already. They have fallen into captivity by the things of the world that they have allowed themselves to see, hear, and practice that are not of the Truth. Jesus, while He was here in the flesh - in the body of a man with a soul and Spirit, overcame these attacks. He did this to show us that we can also overcome these things like He did, and He provided a way and the power for us to escape our own captivity. All we have to do is believe in Him and obey His Word.

In the first three chapters of the book of Revelation, Jesus reminds us how He is the Overcomer, how we are to be like Him and win the battle, and the promises to us if we overcome. Here are those chapters and His message summed up:

Jesus, the Overcomer -
1. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, who is and was and who is to come, the Almighty. He who lives, and was dead, and is alive forevermore. He has the keys of Hades and of Death. He holds the seven stars (messengers of the seven churches) in His right hand and walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands (seven churches). He knows our works, our labor, our patience, and how we persevere.
2. He is the First and Last, who was dead and came to life. He knows our works, tribulation, poverty, and persecution.
3. He has the sharp two-edged sword. He knows our works, where we dwell, and our faithfulness.
4. He is the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like fine brass. He knows our works, love, service, faith, and patience.
5. He has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars. He knows our works and our name.
6. He is holy, He is true, He has the key of David, He opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens. He knows our works, knows our strength, how we have kept His Word and how we have declared His Name.
7. He is the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God. He knows our works and the degree of love we have for Him. He loves us and wants us to open our doors to Him. He wants for us to hear His voice. He will then come in to us and dine with us and we will dine with Him (relationship with Him).

How to be an Overcomer -
1. Remember from where you have fallen, repent and do the first works. Go back to your first love - Jesus. (He is our first love because he first loved us. - 1Jo_4:19)
2. Be faithful until death. Do not fear. Persevere through the testing and suffering that we will go through in this world.
3. Repent and stop worshipping idols. Stop committing sexual immorality.
4. Do not be deceived by "Jezebel" (false doctrine) to commit sexual immorality or to eat things sacrificed by idols. Hold fast and commit to doing the works of Jesus.
5. Be watchful and strengthen before they die the spiritual things in your life that remain but are hanging by a thread. Remember how you have received and heard Jesus, hold fast to Him and repent.
6. Keep the Word, the commandments of Jesus, and do not deny His Name. Persevere, hold fast to what you have in Jesus.
7. Do not be lukewarm in your relationship with Jesus. Do not be prideful, wise in your own eyes, and self-sufficient. Get your riches, clothing, sight, and everything you need from Jesus. Be zealous and repent when Jesus rebukes and chastens you.

He Who Overcomes -
1. He will be allowed to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God. (Eternal Life)
2. He will not be hurt by the second death - the lake of fire. He will be given the crown of life. (Immortality)
3. He will be given some of the hidden manna to eat and a white stone. On the stone, a new name will be written on it and no one knows that name except those who receive the stone (Eternal Covenant with Him)
4. He will have power over the nations as Jesus received from God the Father. He will be given the morning star. (Authority in His Kingdom)
5. He shall be clothed in white garments and his name will not be blotted out from the Book of Life. Jesus will confess his name before God the Father and before His angels. (A Perfect New Life)
6. He will be made a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. Jesus will write on him the name of God and the name of the city of God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from God. Jesus will write on him His new name. (United with King Jesus forever!)
7. He will be granted to sit with Jesus on His throne, as He overcame and sat down with God the Father on His throne. (Royalty in His Kingdom)
